This Youth Mayor Making was held at a reduced capacity within the Oldham Council Chambers, with people having the option to join the Youth Mayor Making virtually. This event followed National Guidance, Oldham Council Covid-19 safety measures, and guidance from the NYA.
This meeting was attended by current Oldham Mayor Jenny Harrison, outgoing Oldham Mayor Ginny Alexander, and outgoing Oldham Youth Mayor Samah Khalil. Youth Councillors Hamra Hanif-Ali, Sophie Jones, and Amour Crooks, all gave motions of nominations for Tia Henderson to become the Youth Mayor for the municipal year 2021/22. Following the nomination speeches, Youth Councillors voted unanimously in favour for Tia Henderson to assume the role of Oldham Youth Mayor for the municipal year.
This Youth Mayor Making did not follow with a food and refreshment service like usual, to reduce the risk of Covid-19 being spread.
