OYC Meeting Minutes – 07/07/21

OYC Meeting Minutes – 07/07/21

This meeting had an altered starting and ending time, at asking of the Chair, so that members could watch the Euro 2020 match happening on the same night.

WELCOME

The Chair, Hamra, welcomed everyone, in person (with members all following national Covid-19 regulations and Oldham Council Covid-19 safety measures) and online, to the meeting.

SCHOOL NURSE CONSULTATION

The NHS division for school nurse provisions had asked for members of Oldham Youth Council to do a consultation on the service, asking questions around if members were aware of the service, how and when they would access the service within educational settings, and what the service should provide. This was conducted through interactive digital means, along with discussions around the questions.

YOUTH MAYOR CHARITY

**Please be aware, the following passage does mention suicide, talking about the suicide prevention charity Papyrus. More information about the charity can be found here: https://www.papyrus-uk.org **

In recent years, Youth Mayors of Oldham have dedicated some of their time in their role for a cause that is important for young people. Newly inaugurated Youth Mayor Tia Henderson has chosen to support Papyrus for the municipal year. This will be alongside other causes that the Youth Mayor supports. Tia discussed the work done by the suicide prevention charity Papyrus, a charity with a main aim of preventing young suicide. Members of the Youth Council in attendance to the meeting voted unanimously to support Tia Henderson, in her role as Youth Mayor, in her work to raise money and awareness for the charity.

AOB

The next meeting of Oldham Youth Council will be conducted on the 21/07/21.
