The current Youth Mayor of Oldham is Samah Khalil. Samah attends events with Cllr Alexander, the Worshipful the Mayor of Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council, meeting residents and seeing the amazing work that goes on in our communities. Below is brief summary of what she has been up to in September.
My highlights for September have been Oldham Foster carer ceremony and sports awards. So many people doing such good work for young people across Oldham!
As you may know my charity for this year is Real Change Oldham . Homelessness is such a massive problem that we can all do something about. This month I’ve been working towards the launch of the ‘ Youth Mayors Slush’ with Ice Pan Oldham. If you’re free on the 10th October, come down to the official launch and get some dessert for charity!
This month also saw a young person from Oldham , Lillia raising her voice for #climatechange at the Fridays for future strikes. I wish I was that confident at 10!
The thing I’ll remember from this month is the final Oldham Rugby League game where Oldham won and is now being promoted!!
It’s been another busy month with lots of engagements and I’m lucky to meet so many amazing people!
