Hi, my is julie. I am really interested in wanting to join and be part of the Oldham youth council, but not entirely sure how to? Will you please be able to give me further guidance on how to join?
Hi Julie, sorry for the delay we have been having some issues with the website.
We hold elections every 2 years to elect the youth councillors but the last election was only in January of this year so to be elected you would have to wait until January 2018.
There is another way to get involved. We have a group called Youth Council Champions that meets every Thursday evening 6 – 8pm at the Youth Council Offices (Room 222, Civic Centre – please see the map below for directions). This group helps with the work of the Youth Council getting involved with organising events and planning/running campaigns of the Youth Council. When Youth Councillors drop out or resign before their term of office is up we look to recruit new youth councillors from this group.

Please could you provided details on how a young person can join the Youth Council Champion, and what is the lowest age a person can join from.

To join the the Youth Council Champions you must aged between 11 and 21 years old. The sessions are open so it is just a case of coming along and filling in a registration form. The sessions run on a Thursday evening 6-8pm and we are based at the Civic Centre in Oldham town centre, a map can be found at the bottom of our website under Real Life!

Hi there, unfortunately you have just missed our recent elections, however there should be an election in December 2023, so make sure you can apply in September/October/November 2023 so you can apply for elections.
