I Love Me

The I Love Me Campaign tried to raise the self-esteem and confidence of young people, give them a positive outlook on life and help them to be proud of who they are by promoting individuality and challenging negative stereotypes.  Oldham Youth Council want to challenge unrealistic body image, young people seen as ‘yobs’ and other causes of low confidence such as bullying.

We did this by:

  • Adopting the Dove self-esteem self-esteem pack and distributing to schools.
  • Inspiring young people by getting involved in the communities as ‘Goodies in Hoodies’.  Showing them that they can raise their own confidence by getting involved.
  • Getting young people and organisation to pledge to raise self-esteem in themselves and in others.

The I Love Me campaign had several strands including:

Producing a school pack around self-esteem and body image

Girl in the Mirror film competition – challenging bullying

Purple Monkey Washing Machine

Chufty Badges

and that ‘Song’!!
