SINGLE USE PLASTIC
Justine Addy from Oldham Council is wanting to put in a Single Use Plastic policy in Oldham Council to help the environment due to the recent spike in media attention to the dumping of single use plastic. Justine wants to swiftly set a policy in place that reduces the amount of single use plastics that are used in Oldham Council, partnered buildings and schools and colleges in Oldham.
DAILY MILE/TOWN CENTRE MASTER PLAN
Recently the GM Daily Mile scheme has been released, aiming to get people of all ages walking a mile a day to increase health. This meeting saw OYC taking apart in their daily mile, following a planned route set out for Oldham Council workers. All with thick jackets and comfy shoes, the Youth Councillors were tasked with spotting what they liked and didn’t like about the town centre.
When arriving back at the conference room, Youth Councillors started to draw ideas together about what they liked and disliked such as derelict streets and unlit areas.
STANDARD DAY
This was to introduce the concept of Standard Day to Youth Councillors who may have missed the information, and asking for a small group to help prepare for the upcoming workshops.
