HATE AWARENESS AND CHALLENGE
Virbai and Jo, from Oldham Council, came to talk to the Youth Council about Hate Crime and the stands of Hate Crime. Starting of with a history of hate crime quiz, it brought to light to the youth council about the history of hate crime, statistics of popularity, the number of nationalities living in the UK, the number of people living in the UK and Oldham with disabilities, what terms were used for racism/homophobia/hate crime against disabilities, the variety of religions in the UK. Virbai also discussed the issues of underreporting, with hate crime against disability having a small amount of reporting in Oldham.
Next, Jo talked to us about the bystander effect. Demonstrating the different situations with members of the Youth Council, seeing how youth councillors would have wanted the situation to ended, which would have made them more comfortable.
OLDHAM YOUTH COUNCIL APP
Chris asked Youth Councillors to test out the OYC app for Youth Councillors. The link can be found on the Facebook group (Youth Councillors Only).
SNAPCHAT GEOFILTERS
