Cared4NW Regional Meeting 02.11.19

Hi guys, Tia here again.

On rainy Saturday the 2nd of November I attended the regional Cared4NW meeting in Bolton, at Bolton’s young people centre.

We arrived around 10:30 where we waited for everyone to arrive and had a catch up with some familiar faces.

At 11:00 we started the day with some ice breakers, led by young people, which helped us see that we all have things in common with each other even though not all our opinions will be the same.

Next Milo from Sefton lead everyone in a parliament week activity where we discussed different facts about parliament and we chose an issue that we felt was most important from topics such as :

Economy, equality and diversity, crime, housing and environment.

Over lunch we had the opportunity to take part in an array of different science experiments, making slime and volcano making. See the pictures on Twitter for my experiments : https://twitter.com/tia_hendy/status/1190622151931518977?s=21

After lunch Milo ran a mini parliament debate where we guessed which facts were true or false.

We then split into 3 groups to do three different activities.

Activity one was making Chocolate apples whilst discussing ideas for different celebration events for Children looked after. I have to say that the eating of the apple was the best bit (and most possibly the messiest bit).

Activity two was creating a T-shirt that explained what our local authority has been doing around each of the top issues: feeling safe, trust with professionals and consistency.

There were definitely some artists in the room!

Activity three was coming together and discussing our current celebration events within our local authorities and discussing what we could improve and how we could share ideas.

And then we said our goodbyes until next meeting!

I felt that The meeting was a very successful meeting and Zara did a fantastic job of running it! I was able to mix with young people that I would not usually mix with, whilst having a laugh and building stronger relationships with young people from different local authorities! Hope to see you all at the next meeting if not before! 👍🏻
