CICC Voice Meeting Minutes 24.01.18

Introductions

Discussions around what CICC Voice is being involved in doing and what has been achieved throughout the year. Young people spoke about the upcoming work on a Welcome Pack for all Looked after Children to receive when they first come in to care. Young people spoke about the poster that has been produced and any changes they would like to make to it, its about the website and encouraging young people to check it out. As new members have joined they were made aware about the Passport to Independence and what it entails. 

Young people spoke about and discussed what they have been involved it : 

  • Prince’s trust – Care Leavers report
  • Take over days – London and Greater Manchester Police
  • Corporate Parenting Panel – Update panel on what we have done
  • Corporate Parenting Conference- speak about certain topics – last one we did was about young people and mental health
  • Blackpool Conference – all northwest, a survey was done beforehand and young people got the chance to go on Pleasure Beach
  • SCIE – London Visit
  • Passport to Independence– Officially gone out
  • Young Voices – Events – half-term/holidays
  • Total respect training – co-delivered by Care Leavers
  • Salford University – Presentation/ interview/Total respect Mini
  • Caroline Waldron – Designated Nurse
  • Website – being updated

Young people discussed what projects they would like to do in the future: 

  • Crafty Ideas- Journals
  • Awareness of Homelessness and Care Leavers
  • Welcome Pack
