New members joined this week so it gave them the opportunity to be introduced to Patsy Burrows Head of Service for Looked after Children & Care Leavers..
YP decided they wanted to carry on doing their books from the previous week. They are currently making their own memory books which they work on every week.
Patsy introduced herself to young people and she spoke about herself and her role within the service. Patsy then asked young people questions around being looked after, their experiences so far plus what the young people wanted. Patsy spoke around social workers and young people explained how they have had lots of different social workers and how they keep changing. Young people emphasised how it’s important to have one regular social worker and to be able to maintain a relationship with them. Young people spoke about their Independent Reviewing Officer’s and Patsy asked if they understood the role of the Independent Reviewing Officer and explained this. Patsy spoke about pathway plans; care plans and wants to come to another meeting to speak to young people in regards to Pathway plans and how they need to be changed. Young people spoke to Patsy about the Blackpool conference and how good it was, young people told her about Afghan Dan and how at the conference they discussed top issues that affected looked after young people and what meant the most to them.
Patsy has arranged to visit the CICC every 6 weeks to discuss in more detail the issues highlighted above.
