Prince’s Trust Care Leavers Report Launch

Young people went to the launch of the Care Leavers Report done by Young Researchers through the Prince’s Trust.

Here they discussed the different recurring themes that were identified throughout the research.

There was a discussion on how the results of this report was going to be used to develop informed policy, based on the needs of care leavers and young people in care.

There was 4 main recurring themes through the research. These are :

  •  Support
  • Skills for Independence
  • Goals
  • Barriers

Young people took the findings of this report to the Corporate Parenting Panel and put forward some questions as to what the panel would do knowing these themes. Young people asked the following questions:

  • Taking these themes in to consideration what could be done to change the services we currently provide to ensure the support, skills for independence and goals are there for young people in care to be able to achieve?
  • What can be done to ensure that the barriers for young people in care are minimised as much as possible?
  • How could we link the results to this research to what the council currently does?

Young people await replies from Corporate Parenting Panel.
