OLDHAM YOUTH COUNCIL ELECTIONS

Youth Council elections are in Jan/Feb 2018, highlighting the schools who have already stepped forward and stated they are prepared to do it. In order to make more outreach, Chris has set the task for Youth Councillors to head into their respective schools, and speak to their teachers to get contact details so the YC can spread its call for candidates.

OLDHAM YOUTH COUNCIL APP

Following issues from the beta test from the last meeting, a new build for the Youth Council app and introduced to the YC for some feedback. Even though some of the build has not been completed, the first build has gained some good feedback.

SNAPCHAT GEOFILTERS

The snapchat geofilters have reluctantly been rejected the original set of geofilters, due to the logo appearing on the filter. This has caused a call for ideas, getting around the ban that has been set into place.

EVENTS AND TRIPS

Events and Trips have been given out to Youth Councillors.

OPPORTUNITY AREA SCHEME

Jodie has raised the opportunity to the Youth Council about Oldham becoming an Opportunity Area, a small scheme from the Department of Education, that helps makes schemes that last even after the funding has closed. The priorities for this area are; Making sure 5 year olds and under are school ready; raise attainment for all; and all children and young people are ready for life and work. Asking the Youth Council for feedback, starting with the proposed approach to procurement. These are from a Dynamic Purchasing System or Direct Delivery. There are eight ‘lots’, which are allocated to what is being looked for, for some of the grant. After and explanation on what the grant would be used for, a few questions were asked. The Youth Council gathered ideas for the questions as their feedback, giving their views on the ‘lots’.
